Access

Creative engagement revealed how important it is to communities that they can access the river for its biodiversity, stories, heritage and as a place to play and dream. Children's shadow puppet performances demonstrated particular concern for the health of the water, pollution and littering. The lack of clear access to the river is the biggest barrier preventing people from engaging with the river.

Mapping the river workshops comments:

  • Council slipways not maintained, slippy, slimy, muddy.
  • Fishermen's pontoon condemned by the council.
  • Pile of rocks under the bridge from when the footbridge was built impedes access up the river.
  • Trespassing can be an issue for farmers.
  • Footpath St Dogs to Cardigan.
  • Leisure & recreation - it’s hard to get to the river.
  • See the river as an asset, not a problem.
  • For Cardigan, the river and sea are completely integrated .
  • I love the peace of being on the river.
